This Saturday! Support the Providence Urban Community in the Face of COVID-19 at a Public Zoom Meeting of SURJ

DATE: Saturday May 9 2020
TIME: 3:30 PM-4:30 PM
TOPIC: AMOR Stimulus Check Resource Redistribution

The Providence Chapter of Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) is hosting a Public Meeting to help build support for local BIPOC-led organizations working directly with communities facing hardship as a result of the COVID pandemic.

The Alliance to Mobilize Our Resistance (AMOR) Coalition has been active in the Greater Providence BIPOC community supporting communities encountering police state violence since the 2016 election. Organizations involved include Direct Action for Rights and Equality (DARE), Providence Youth Student Movement (PrYSM), The FANG Collective, Call Off Your Old Tired Ethics RI (COYOTE, RI), Colectivo Sin Fronteras, and the Refugee Dream Center. In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, AMOR has developed a large-scale mutual aid program that is delivering direct support to its clients.

But to maintain sustainability, they need your help!

In partnership with this project, allies of AMOR have come together to develop a CARES Act stimulus check pledge program. We are soliciting donations from beneficiaries of the program to redistribute monies to those who are less fortunate and may not have access to the stimulus or other benefit programs like TDI or unemployment insurance. Whether you can contribute $5 or $500, every little bit counts.
