Outlaw and Vagabond: I Plead Guilty As Charged, Like Any Decent Journalist


Bernard Levin was one of the greatest journalists of modern times. In this era, when top tier Washington journalists are almost without exception harlots and liars and respected members of the elite, it’s always good to remember his immortal words:

“We [journalists] are, and must remain, vagabonds and outlaws, for only by so remaining shall we be able to keep the faith by which we live, which is the pursuit of knowledge that others would like unpursued, and the making of comment that others would prefer unmade.”
